Annapurna Interactive was one of several games companies to show off their upcoming games at the Day of the Devs event today. Specifically, it gave updates on two of its titles: Open Roads and Flock. Open Roads launches on February 22, 2024, while Flock has a slightly more general Spring 2024 launch window. In addition, Annapurna is also offering a demo of Flock in partnership with Wholesome Games through the end of the month.
Open Roads is a mother-daughter road trip adventure game, about two people on a trip together to repair their relationship who inadvertently unearth long-buried family secrets. Open Roads stars Keri Russell and Kaitlin Dever as mother Opal and daughter Tess, respectively. It launches on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Game Pass.
Flock, on the other hand, is a multiplayer exploration title from Hollow Ponds, the creators of Hohokum. Players ride birds around an open world, collecting critters for their titular flock. They can seek out progressively rarer creatures as they do so. The game launches on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Game Pass, though the free demo is only available through Steam.
Open Roads was originally developed under Fullbright Studios. However, studio founder Steve Gaynor stepped back from the project in 2021 following allegations that he’d created a hostile work environment. Now the game’s developers have splintered off and are simply called the Open Roads Team.
