Microsoft confirmed today that the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will debut on day one Xbox Game Pass when the title debuts this fall.
In a post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft reiterated that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be unveiled just after the completion of the Xbox Games Showcase event, which starts on June 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. Pacific.
In the reveal, Activision will reveal more details on the game, which is a “dark new chapter” in the Black Ops series. Treyarch and Raven Software are among the developers of the game. Microsoft owns it now thanks to its $68.7 billion acquisition in October 2023 of Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft also released a live-action trailer based on the earlier sneak peek trailer The Truth Lies. It features Gulf War leaders such as Saddam Hussein, Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, George H. W. Bush and Colin Powell. Black Ops 6 is expected to take place in the Persian Gulf War in 1991.

There was some debate among gamers about whether Xbox Game Pass would include Black Ops 6. It remains to be seen if Microsoft will create a new tier in Xbox Game Pass that would include the new Call of Duty title, as this might be considered a premium offering of some kind.
Xbox president Sarah Bond said recently that all Microsoft games would launch on Game Pass. But the company has a quandary around whether it’s cannibalizing sales of premium Xbox games without gaining enough on the subscriptions to Game Pass. Each new Call of Duty title can generate hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars in revenue. Microsoft has to tread carefully here, as it already saw the need to shave 1,900 jobs from the Activision Blizzard acquisition and shutter a few studios as well.
